MLB Injury News & Starting Lineups (April 3): Dozier Out, Donaldson’s Status Up in the Air

12:15 p.m. ET: Kansas City Royals third baseman Hunter Dozier will not play in Saturday’s game against the Texas Rangers with a swollen right thumb. Dozier, who signed a four-year, $25-million extension during Spring Training, exited the opener on Thusrday with the injury. Hanser Alberto is getting the start on Saturday in his place.
The move is considered day-to-day and no roster move is imminent, according to Lynn Worthy of the Kansas City Star.
Josh Donaldson left the Minnesota Twins’ Opening Day loss to the Milwaukee Brewers after experiencing right hamstring tightness, and his status or the second game on Saturday evening is still up in the air.
