  • Nine NBA games are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 7
  • Extensive player props are available for many of the league’s biggest stars
  • See below to see where we think the betting value lies

Wednesday should be wild in the NBA.

For starters, there’s the much anticipated return of Nets star Kevin Durant from injury, as Brooklyn faces off with red-hot Zion Williamson and the Pelicans.

The mess of East clubs jockeying for position in the conference are in action, with Atlanta hosting Memphis, Charlotte in OKC and the Knicks and the Celtics going head-to-head in Boston.

And the night wraps up with a heavyweight tilt: the NBA-leading Utah Jazz are in Phoenix to take on the Suns who have the second-best mark in the leagaue. Phoenix is trying to close that 2.5-game gap at the top of the West.

Let’s take a look at the player props available for April 7, and show you where we find value.

Odds as  of April 6. This table will be updated as more props come available.

Durant Will Cook

After missing a year to injury, Kevin Durant has played in just 19 games in his second season with the Brooklyn Nets, and he’s returning after a 20+ game absence with a lingering hamstring injury.

In that small sample, he showed he was not only fully recovered from a ruptured Achilles, but is still the most lethal scorer in basketball. Durant failed to crack the 21.5 total he’s been set at in his return just three times in 19 games.

Two happened just before he went on the shelf, when he scored 20 against the Warriors the game he suffered the injury, and prior to that he was pulled off the court due to COVID concerns against the Raptors, scoring just eight points in 19 minutes.

The other was a January 25 slugfest against the Heat, where he scored 20.  Other that that, KD has scored at least 28 points in 15 of 19 games. He’s also going up against a Pelicans’ team that bleeds points: New Orleans surrenders 115.1 a night, the fifth-worst mark in the league.

Brooklyn has been extremely cautious getting Durant up to speed. And while they will surely monitor their best player, he’s too good to not hit this number.

  • The Pick: Durant OVER 21.5 points (-110)

Can Mitchell Find Mark?

Utah is having a spectacular three-point shooting season, leading the league in attempts at 43 a night, and hitting at the second-best rate in the league at 39.5%. They are drilling 17 triples a game to lead the NBA – a clip that no other team can match, with only two other teams at 15 makes or better.

Mitchell is one of the Jazz’s top marksmen, shooting it at a 39.6% clip, on 8.6 attempts per game. He’s coming off an ugly 0-for-8 mark in a loss to the Mavericks on Monday, but he’s been way on the mark since the start of March. Mitchell has hit four or more three-pointers nine times in his last 16 games.

In the previous five times he’s hit three three-pointers or less, he’s failed to follow that up with four or more moneyballs the next game just once.

Phoenix defends the three at the fourth-best rate in the league, limiting teams to 34.7% shooting, while holding opponents to under 33 attempts a night. While that’s daunting, I like the value here of Mitchell bouncing back in one of the biggest games of the year.

  • The Pick: Mitchell OVER 3.5 three point makes (+122)

Randle the Distributor

Point forward Julius Randle has really tapped into his playmaking side to start the month of April, going for 10+ assists in two of the first three games, and he the Knicks’ team leader in assists at 6.0 per game. No one else on the New York roster averages better than 3.0.

While Boston is one of the top teams at limiting assists per game — their 23.4 dimes allowed is sixth-best — that doesn’t mean an individual can’t rack up a good assist total. In fact, the Celtics have surrendered a 6-assist man in four of their last five games. While you’d expect that from Ben Simmons and Lonzo Ball, Charlotte’s Devonte Graham and Houston’s Kevin Porter have also been high-end distributors.

Expect Randle to make it five out of six.

  • The Pick: Randle OVER 5.5 assist (-142)
