Pick #1: Cowboys Cover in Bedlam

Oklahoma State (10-1) is peaking at the right time heading into the 2021 edition of Bedlam against Oklahoma (10-1). The Cowboys have won four straight games and have covered the spread the spread in nine consecutive contests. Mike Gundy’s team is looking to win Bedlam for the first time since 2014.

While the Cowboys are surging, Oklahoma has just barely been getting by. The Sooners suffered a big blow to their CFP chances when they lost 27-14 to Baylor in Week 11. Lincoln Riley’s team followed up that performance with a decent, but not convincing, 28-21 win over Iowa State in Week 12. OU is only 5-6 ATS.

OSU’s stifling defense is reason to bet them against the spread Saturday in Stillwater. The Cowboys are only giving up 14.9 points and 216.3 yards per game. They’ve allowed just one total offensive touchdown in their last four games, including a 23-0 shutout victory over Texas Tech last time out.

Oklahoma freshman quarterback Caleb Williams is still adjusting to the collegiate level and has struggled in his last two games. Going up against two of the best Big 12 defenses in Baylor and Iowa State, Williams completed 47.2% of his passes for one TD and three interceptions. OSU leads the nation in sacks (3.37 per game).

Oklahoma should be able to rely on their dominant offensive line to win the battle in the trenches and run over the Sooners. Cowboys running back Jaylin Warren isn’t exactly Chuba Hubbard, but he’s rushed for over 1,000 yards this season. Look for Warren to be the difference maker against an OU rush defense that got exposed by Baylor.

  • Pick: Oklahoma State -4 (-110)

Florida State vs Florida Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Florida State Seminoles +3 (-115) +125 O 59 (-110)
Florida Gators -3  (-105) -145 U 59 (-110)

Pick #2: Seminoles Beat Up Gators

An ugly season for the Florida Gators could get even worse when they welcome their-in state FSU rivals to the swamp in Week 13. The Gators have lost four of their past five games, failing to cover the spread in each contest. The program fired head Dan Mullen after the Gators’ lost in overtime to Missouri in Week 12.

This struggling Gators team is facing an FSU team that is playing its best football of the season. The Seminoles have their eyes on bowl eligibility after winning back-to-back games against Miami and Boston College. Mike Norvell’s team covered the spread as small underdogs in each contest.

Much like with Bedlam, this college football betting line may be a bit skewed due to recent history in this series. Although the Seminoles are playing the better football right now, you can’t ignore the fact Florida has dominated this game in back-to-back years. The Gators won by 20-plus points in both 2019 & 2018.

Florida State holds the matchup edge in several key areas this year, including defense and quarterback play. The Gators were just lit up for over 500 yards and 52 points by FCS Samford, while the Seminoles held Boston College and Miami to an average of 25,5 points and 228.5 yards.

FSU QB Jordan Travis has completed 63% of his passes over his last three starts while also making plays with his legs. Florida’s Anthony Richardson has thrown two picks in back-to-back weeks while battling through injury. With UF’s Special Teams Coordinator Greg Knox taking over as interim coach, back the Seminoles as road underdogs.

  • Pick: Florida State +3 (-115)

Oregon State vs Oregon Odds

Team Spread Moneyline Total
Oregon State Beavers +7 (-110) +225 O 61 (-105)
Oregon Ducks -7  (-110) -280 U 61 (-115)

Pick #3: Beavers Run Over Ducks

Oregon (9-2) can clinch the Pac-12 North Division with a win over Oregon State (7-4) at Autzen Stadium in Week 13. Mario Cristobal’s team is coming off a brutal loss to Utah and will have their hands full again Saturday. The Beavers have won and covered the spread in back-to-back wins over ASU and Stanford.

Oregon State can also clinch the Pac-12 North Division Saturday if Washington State beats Washington, so there’s plenty at stake for both sides. Oregon State crushed Oregon’s CFP chances last year with a 41-38 victory at Reser Stadium last year, and they have the weapons to pull off the upset for the second straight season.

Oregon’s two losses this season have come against Stanford and Utah teams that run similar schemes to Oregon State. Utah, in particular, was able to gash the Oregon rush defense for over 200 yards. Oregon State has the best rushing offense in the Pac-12, averaging 229.5 yards per game on the ground.

Another key matchup for this rivalry game is Oregon’s lackluster third-down defense facing one of the nation’s best third-down offenses. Oregon allowed Utah to convert 11 of 14 third down attempts last weekend and rank 120th in FBS overall in that category (.460). The Beavers ranks fourth nationally in third-down offense (.507).

Oregon would surely love another Pac-12 Championship, but they may be a tad demoralized after that beatdown at Utah last weekend. It doesn’t help that QB Anthony Brown is only completing 57% of his passes over the last three games. Look for OSU’s defense to stack the box and force Brown to air it out, while relying on their run game to secure the upset.

  • Pick: Oregon State +7 (-110)
